[liːd], Lead [liːd], Jane, geborene Ward [wɔːd], englische Mystikerin, * in der Grafschaft Norfolk 1624, ✝ London 19. 8. 1704; seit 1670 Witwe; beeinflusst von der Mystik J. Böhmes, Mitbegründerin der »Philadelphian Society«, einer Organisation, die zur Einigung des Christentums vor der nahen Wiederkunft Christi beitragen sollte. In ihren mystischen Spekulationen betont Leade die weiblichen Züge des Göttlichen, so z. B., wenn sie die Weisheit in Gestalt einer Jungfrau (»Virgin wisdom«), symbolisiert durch biblische Frauengestalten wie Ruth, Rebekka und Maria, sieht. Zwischen 1681 und 1704 veröffentlichte sie 15 Schriften. Leade fand Anhänger v. a. in den Niederlanden, in Deutschland, Schweden und Finnland.
